The GLOBALGAP protocol is a voluntary certification which defines good agricultural practice. The main areas developed by the globalgap protocol can be summarised in terms of the following topics:

1. Worker health, safety and welfare;

2. Environmental protection and conservation;

3. Management of residual company waste and its reuse;

4. Traceability;

5. Conscious management of gmo and propagating materials;

6. Soil and fertilisation management;

7. Water resources and irrigation management;

8. Integrated crop protection and correct use of plant protection products;

9. Management of the harvest and handling of products in controlled hygiene and quality conditions.
